Here we are with my $1000 stock primer gray Suzuki Samurai. Well, not quite stock. There is a GRS1 transfer case from Petroworks on it at this point. Probably should have waited for the bigger tires seeing as how it red lines in 5th gear at about 45 miles an hour.

Here is a look at the intake manifold with the new Weber attachment. A tip from a buddy of mine was to take a die grinder and open up the manifold holes to the same size as the Weber attachment. Probably an increase of about five hp which is a lot on a Samurai. Note the dozen or so loose hoses and wires. What a mess.

This is the new Iskanderian camshaft before installation. Everyone I talked to said it would be wise to get this along with the Weber carb. I picked the camshaft up from Glenn Wakefield at Rocky Road Outfitters for around $130.

A shot of the new tri-y exhaust header, followed by a custom 2.5 inch exhaust with glass pack. This thing is too loud by the way. I should have put a muffler on it. The Weber carb and this header were purchased from Calmini for $500. Pretty steep. As was the shackle reversal.

Finished product. That Weber looks nice. Now to do some work on the exterior. Lift and tires are next. I put a three inch body lift on and Calmini's two inch shackle reversal. This was enough to fit 33x10.5 Thornbirds under there with some fender trimming up front.
| After putting the lift and tires on, it is about time for a paint job. A free gallon of paint (sweet color) from my buddy Nate at the paint store and some help from the painter (my Dad), we had this thing done in a weekend. Total cost - free! Oh yeah I also had a buddy throw my new 5.13 ring and pinion and lockright lockers in the front and rear. The body lift gave me some trouble with the steering at the rag joint, but I worked it out, just in time for the Moab Easter Jeep Safari. |
